Since September 30, 2024, through Alipay+, a unified wallet gateway provided by Ant International, merchants previously accepting Alipay payments can connect with 36 digital wallets with one-time integration, accepting payments from wallet users across the world, mostly from Asia, including Alipay. 

Current Alipay merchants will be seamlessly migrated to the Alipay+ solution, with no need for technical integration or changes in Alipay wallet pricing. Additionally, merchants will be able to accept other international e-wallets within the Alipay solution network using a single QR code.

What is Alipay+, and how does it differ from Alipay?

Alipay+ was launched by Ant International, leading global fintech platform headquartered in Singapore with tech giant Ant Group one of its major shareholders. It is a unified gateway providing global cross-border payment and digitalisation solutions to merchants.

Unlike Alipay, Alipay+ is not a mobile wallet or banking app. Instead, it partners with acquirers and payment service providers to connect merchants with consumers using multiple digital payment methods. Customer relationships remain with local wallets and acquirers while users pay through their payment provider’s native app. This means consumers can use their chosen payment methods that are connected to the Alipay+ solution, to make payments worldwide for online and offline purchases as they would pay locally.
